Every Reykjavík local has climbed Esja, the flat-topped mountain across the bay. We do it the way locals do: after work, with the low sun on the slopes and the city lighting up behind you. The trail is well-marked and climbs steadily to the big rock called Steinn at 600 m — the official turnaround for mortals. Those who want the summit ridge and have the legs can continue with the guide on calm evenings.
It's the cheapest trip we run and one of the best. Bring a friend. We'll have you back in town by 21:30.

600 m of climb over 3.5 km — you'll breathe hard. A fit teenager or a normal adult who walks a bit will be fine.
We don't run Esja from November to March — ice on the upper trail. Do the glacier hike instead.
